Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stated that expatriates make significant contributions to the creation of global public opinion in the struggle for independence. Expatriates have made immense contributions in every movement and war of liberation, and their remittances, sent to Bangladesh, are a key driving force for the country's economy.
She made these remarks during an exchange program with Awami League activists of the Expatriate League at Ganabhaban on Tuesday afternoon.
Sheikh Hasina said that expatriates have contributed to our struggle for independence and any movement. When martial law was imposed in Bangladesh and we couldn't work, the expatriates protested. You engage in movements and struggles, creating public opinion. It is a tremendous strength for us.
She emphasized that the Awami League has proven itself to be the servant of the people. As the Prime Minister, she sees herself as a servant, working to take the country forward. With 15 years in power, the country has become self-sufficient in food. People now dream of a better future.
