Pat Cummins bumps Taijul, Phillips to win player of the month award for December

Australia captain Pat Cummins was honored with the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for December, surpassing Bangladesh's Taijul Islam and New Zealand's Glenn Phillips for this recognition.

Cummins earned this accolade for his exceptional bowling display during Australia's successful Test series against Pakistan, concluding a year where he guided the team to an Ashes victory, the ICC World Test Championship title, and their sixth ODI World Cup trophy.

Reflecting on the achievements, Cummins stated, "It's been a great year for the group across all formats, and to cap it off with a strong performance against a challenging Pakistan side was a nice way to finish 2023," as quoted by the ICC. He expressed satisfaction with the team's performance throughout the summer and looked forward to the upcoming series against West Indies and New Zealand.

In the women's category, India's Deepti Sharma secured the ICC Women's Player of the Month award for December.
