Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for securing a landslide victory in the 12th National Parliamentary Election. The congratulatory message was conveyed on Thursday.
On the same day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was also congratulated by the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. Xi Jinping's message emphasized the mutual cooperation, friendship, and mutual respect between China and Bangladesh over the past 49 years since establishing diplomatic relations. Both countries have actively supported each other in the fields of development and progress, contributing to the well-being of their respective populations.
In his message, President Xi Jinping expressed anticipation for the continuation of strong political trust between China and Bangladesh, highlighting the significant meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in August, where the two leaders discussed ways to elevate the bilateral friendship and cooperation. He expressed hope for political growth, intensified economic cooperation, and enhanced collaboration on Belt and Road Initiative projects, emphasizing that both nations would work together for mutual benefits.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In a separate statement, Li stated, "China is ready to work with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to further enhance the bilateral friendship and cooperation, and jointly contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative."
