President Mohammed Shahabuddin today urged people of all religions and castes to collaborate in building a non-communal, joyful, prosperous, and Smart Bangladesh.



Speaking at a program at Bangabhaban to mark Christmas Day, the President emphasized the importance of working for the welfare of the country and its people, emphasizing that religion is a matter of perception, not argument. He hosted a reception for Christian community leaders at Bangabhaban, reiterating the vision of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a non-communal and 'smart Bangladesh.' The President extended greetings to Christians worldwide, highlighting Jesus Christ as a seeker of truth and a guide of light, and emphasized the role of Christ's teachings in establishing peace and unity in the world. Dhaka Archbishop Bejoy N. D'Cruz and other community dignitaries attended the reception, where the President cut a Christmas cake and participated in a photo session with guests.
