'Dunki,' one of the highly awaited Bollywood films in 2023 featuring superstar Shah Rukh Khan, made its debut in 46 local theaters and cinemas across the country on Friday, following its international release a day earlier.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film secured its uncut censor certificate from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on Thursday night. Joy Cinemas in Keraniganj, Dhaka, promptly screened the first show in Bangladesh at 9 pm after its release.
Despite the initial anticipation among Shah Rukh Khan fans for a simultaneous release in all theaters on the same date as its international premiere, they flocked to cinemas on Friday to catch the much-awaited film.
The cinema halls were bustling with festive energy on Friday as moviegoers eagerly immersed themselves in the last major Bollywood release of the year on the big screen. Globally, 'Dunki' has been garnering positive responses.
Action Cut Entertainment, known for bringing SRK-starrer blockbusters like 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan' to Bangladesh, serves as the distributor for 'Dunki' in the country. Notably, 'Jawan' made history by being released in Bangladesh on the same day as its global premiere.
Directed and edited by Rajkumar Hirani, the co-screenplay writer renowned for addressing significant issues in films such as 'Munna Bhai MBBS,' '3 Idiots,' 'PK,' and 'Sanju,' 'Dunki' explores the illegal immigration strategy of the same name, prevalent among many immigrant aspirants in India. The movie also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and Boman Irani in prominent roles, produced under the banners of Red Chillies Entertainment, Jio Studios, and Rajkumar Hirani Films.
