Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has commenced the unveiling of her party's manifesto for the upcoming 12th parliamentary election scheduled for January 7.
The AL’s election manifesto prioritizes 11 pledges, including controlling the prices of goods for all citizens and increasing employment opportunities.
The program commenced at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka on Wednesday morning, with the opening speech delivered by the Party's General Secretary, Obaidul Quader.
Seeking a fourth consecutive term, the AL has previously won the elections in 2008, 2014, and 2018.
The theme of the AL’s election manifesto is "Unnoyon drisshoman, barbe ebar kormoshongsthan," translating to "development is visible, now it is time to increase employment."
Senior leaders of the party, cabinet members, diplomats, and special dignitaries attended the event.
Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, while announcing the manifesto, stated, “The continuity of long-term action plans announced in the 2008, 2014, and 2018 election manifestos has also been maintained in the 12th election manifesto.”
According to the manifesto, the 11 commitments that the Awami League will prioritize if the party wins in the election are:
1. Making maximum efforts to keep the inflation rate within everyone's purchasing power.
2. Ensuring practical education and secure employment opportunities for the youth.
3. Building a modern technology-dependent Smart Bangladesh.
4. Promoting balanced agricultural policies, investing in mechanization, and enhancing processing and value addition.
5. Developing visible infrastructure facilities and promoting the expansion of the industrial sector through increased investment.
6. Enhancing skills and capabilities in economic sectors, including banking.
7. Facilitating accessible healthcare for low-income individuals.
8. Integrating everyone into the public pension system.
